As we get further into Queensland the weather improves - a bit. Clear blue skies but cold nights. The unsealed road from the NSW border to our first stop at Noccundra was open to 4WD but had been badly damaged by the recent rain. There was lots of water lying in the depressions and the numerous creek crossings.
The next night we camped beside the Bullo River again, this time at Thargamindah. We we met up with Barry and Keran at Quilpie where a couple of nights beside the lake and another beside the Bullo River again.
Next on the itinerary was a visit to Hell Hole Gorge. We stayed at Adavale and used that as a base from which to do a day trip to the gorge.
After Adavale we headed along the dirt to Ambathala Creek for a night then anither nughtt at a farm stay on Tyrone Station. The highlight at Tyrone was the view from the escarpment and the cave walk featuring Butt Rock.
